Honda Dominator NX650
At the beginning only 50 % of our team is a Dominator fan. That’s a fact. Abrasive single cylinder, plastic parts all over, lack of response in the driving performance, maximum speed 120/km/hr, spongy suspension, super thin front tires; this is not for Michael.
If the purchasing process of the plane becomes a somewhat unique experience, then the step-by-step development of the conversion of this bike certainly is a deviation from the norm.
Tom is all excited about configurating it to a tracker bike and starts to work on a wheel and tire experiment. Our first Titan prototype, so to speak. Super cool tires, the rest we keep standard. The front fender had to go. No room for it.
In the fall of 2015, we start to ride it. We continuously make minor adjustments to the chassis, play around a little bit with the muffler, the gear ratio and the air pressure. Then return it to the street. The results also convince the guy who was doubtful at first. This bike handles curves effortlessly and, because of the 650 engine, it has a lot more pressure than the 500 girlie (what a bore!) version – sorry chicks!
All of a sudden Michael gets motivated, as well. The outcome is a spectacular Titan style Flat Tracker with a steel tank, all plain and simple, a brutal sound and a saddle which is unheard of.
To us a bike is always a big success if you look at it thinking: Who the hell is going to buy this thing? This certainly applies for this dominatrix we created.
