BMW K100 Xaver
With this beemer we are heading towards a new direction. But let’s start right at the beginning:
It started in fall 2015. A customer that earns good money came into our workshop. He is in the real estate business, has various interests, is hunter, owner of a mountain lodge and drives a Harley Davidson Road King. A Road King. 6 years old. 3500km. Dirty. With a broken battery.
That this purchase was not his best idea ever, we didn’t have to explain him in detail. Doesn’t work to go through a central european city with this truck. Neither up to the alp hut. Looking at the BMWs in our showroom, his eyes started blinking. We got em.
We arranged a quick test drive, first of all he got a R100, but power doesn’t impress him very much, at least he might recall the torque of the Road King a little. We play our next card: He is going to try our K100 for a ride.
Alea iacta est, as the latins would say; the dice are on the table. He want to have the flying brick. The brakes and the smooth engine revs have convinced him. We promise to work on the engine performance.
As a next step, he have to get rid of the Harley. This is one of the requirements for the kick-off. And it’s a hard term. Not until June we are ready to proceed. But then we investigate in a good base model and are able to find a K100 LT with not more than 21k kilometers. A rare LT model, built in only 1986, the Luxury Tourer.
About Fritz, the preowner in Burgenland, we would need to tell you story as well. Maybe next time.
